Lord Mayor of London due to visit


LORD Mayor of London David Brewer arrives in Britain for a special visit today.

The one-day visit has been organised by the British embassy in association information minister and Minister of state for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar.

The aim to strengthen the already excellent relationship between Bahrain’s financial and political communities and London and to explore new areas of co-operation, said an embassy statement.

Alderman Brewer will be accompanied by delegates fro the UK business and financial sectors, including members of the London Stock Exchange.

Delegates will include representatives from standard Chantered Bank, The Securities and Investment Institute, HSBC, Strutt and Parker, Jasper Capital, Vector Management, International financial Services, London, UK Trade and Investment, ABC International Bank, Merchant Bridge, ACCA and Towers and Hamlins.

The lord Mayor’s programme will include meetings with senior government ministers and officials and a round-table discussion at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, hosted by its director Khalid Norruddin, who will also organise a lunch for the party. - Gulf Daily News
