Bill Mogford is a non-executive director of Jasper Capital.
Having received his tax training with the Inland Revenue in the
West Country and in London, Bill joined KPMG and later Saffrey Champness
where he qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor. During this period,
he looked after the tax affairs of two large public companies.
After five years in the profession, Bill joined Lloyds Bank where
he worked for twenty five years. Whilst heavily involved in United
Kingdom corporation tax matters, he handled the bank’s international
taxation affairs in some 73 countries. During this time, he undertook
extensive overseas travel negotiating with various foreign tax authorities
directly. He was involved in the bank’s acquisitions of Abbey
Life, Cheltenham & Gloucester, Agricultural Mortgage Corporation
and TSB. He left the bank in 1996 as Chief Manager (Group Tax) to
pursue his own private practice interests and to continue lecturing
for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and other
training companies.
Bill has run his own tax practice for 15 years. As well as looking
after his own clients, he also supports other accountancy practices
on more difficult corporate tax issues, particularly those involving
international planning and compliance. Bill has been a member of
the Bankers Taxation Circle since 1974 and was President of the
Circle in 1982-83. He has served on the International Tax Committee
of the Chartered Institute of Taxation South West Branch and the
Tax Committee of the UK 200 Group of Chartered Accountants. He has
been associated with Jasper Capital since its formation.
